WHITE WEDNESDAY COUTURE

Recently, I have been looking at the boxes and boxes of old lace and lace pieces that I have and have been wanting to put them to use. Elevate their status from stained, torn and forgotten, to the beauty and elegance that they once enjoyed in our ancestor's house holds. Their beauty came from the hands of hard working women who enjoyed needle work as a way to soften the edges of home and person. Wet felting allowed me to use pieces of netting and old curtains and scarves as a foundation, to which I embedded these bits and pieces of lace and tatting. It is really hard work to get the wool to felt, (I didn't know I had so many muscles in the back of my arms!) but I am happy with the results of these scarves/shawls. I feel that I have achieved my goal and it was certainly worth the effort.

Judy can you ever create great art my friend. These are the most amazing beauties I've ever seen! I wear about four white scarves in all and none of them come even close to these in loveliness. You inspire me! How many times can I keep saying that?

I love vintage laces and reusing them the way you have is so pretty.
You have used them in such a way as to still show their beauty and craftmanship.

Gorgeous!

Oh my goodness you have transformed your bits and pieces into a masterpiece....you are one talented lady! If ever you decide to sell some please let me know....I love to add vintage lace and ribbon to my papercrafts. BTW, I've been searching for a vintage dress form similar to yours...do you have any recommendations?

When I first visited your blog, this was the first post I saw, and it absolutely took my breath away! Your scarves are just dreamy! In fact, this morning I was thinking that if I could just find some romantic, lacey, gause-y(sp?), comfortable clothing, I would wear them all the time! Your scarves are a dream come true! If you are selling these, I would definitely be interested...
