This is a white felted scarf that I made using white wool roving and long lengths of different vintage laces. Recently, my BFF Mary L. gave me a birds nest that had blown out of a tree at her farmette. Mary has 2 very furry dogs, Hanna &Gracie, Missy the horse, Chico the mule, and several cats. As one can imagine, springtime at Marry's produces a lot of hair when her animals shed their winter coats. This event happens around the same time as the birds in her area are looking for materials to build their nests! This is a very special nest for me because it includes hair and fur from most of her animals! This is one bird that so gets it! It so reminded me of the scarf that I felted with what was available, pretty and useful.

That really is quite a special birds nest.
Hi
Love, love, love the scarf!
The bird nest is very cool...
Blessings
I love them both! We have sheep and the neighbors have horses and I love when we find nests with reminders of our animals. Even the chicken's feathers get used! Kim
I have a bird theme this month- lots of cages and some more nests and my pillows....you'll love it!
The nest, the scarf, both are wonderful use of leftovers...even nature seizes the moment.
BlessYou
Lovely creation.
Melding the old and the new always bring freshness to the nostalgic.
The birds nest...well they are the original creators, aren't they?
LOL
What an interesting comparison. Love them both!

Oh Judy. They are BOTH beautiful!!!! I love your felted work of art and the precious bird's nest as well ~ such tiny things can make us so very happy....just seeing the beauty ~ have a wonderful day!!! hugs and love, Dawn
Judy, that nest is just too wonderful for words. I found one in TN a few years back, with strings and paper all tucked in and I gently carried it home with me on the plane.
It was nestled in a tree in the front yard of a home having a garage sale. They assured me that no bird would be returning. When I asked if I could have it, I think they thought I was nuts. But we know better hmmm?

The scarf is yummy. Can you even imagine how snuggly warm little baby birds would be in that nest? Heaven!

You've got me thinking about myson's favorite book when he was younger about two birds trying to find "the best nest."
What a special little nest! I love the felted scarf. I have wanting to learn about felting for sometime now.
Would you have any resources that might be good to learn more about this art?
